When I ask my 8yo daughter what the difference is between girls and boys on the playground and at school, she says, “Well usually, boys like to play games that involve crashing and smashing, and girls like to play games based on life, like Barbies.”

I think it’s really telling that gender differences are so apparent at this age, and also so clear to the ones living them.

Makes me wonder at what point these gender preferences and differences come to be?  And, do they come about naturally, or do we influence them as parents?
