Teach Kids To Be Proud Of Their Empathetic Selves
One of my nephews carries a baby doll named Dan. Baby Dan is cuddled and cherished and kissed and cooed-at by a 2 1/2 year old boy. I don’t think this is news that is blog-worthy, but some people would say it is, because it’s not the norm. Boys usually play with trucks and blocks and dinosaurs… “masculine” toys, per se. But this boy’s parents encouraged him to play with whatever interested him, and while he loves trucks and trains, he also loves playing caregiver to his Baby Dan.
I believe that encouraging these natural, nurturing feelings will result in my nephew growing up to be a caring, demonstrative and empathetic man.
